The Clerk’s Report – August 2024

I hope everyone has had a fun and relaxing summer enjoying our beautiful beaches! With the start of a new school year, I want to remind families of the annual back-to-school Florida sales tax holiday to help save money. These tax-free days will only run until August 11, 2024, so make sure to take advantage of these possible savings.

I want to thank our community for the confidence you have shown in our office.  As determined on June 14th at noon, I was unopposed for the office of Clerk and will have the honor of serving you for the next 4 years!  Thank you to the great staff at the Clerk’s Office that proudly provide exceptional service to the community every day.

As one of your elected constitutional officers, I want to highlight the importance of voting in the upcoming primary election on August 20th. Voting is every citizen’s opportunity to make your voices heard. Many heroes have fought for us to have the freedom to choose how we are represented in the government. Your participation has a direct effect on how the government works. High voter turnout ensures that important issues being addressed within our community are properly represented and actions are determined by the majority.

Make sure to renew your passports as you wrap up the summer season and prepare for holiday travels. The Department of State has announced a beta release of an Online Passport Renewal Service that will be open to the public. While the goal of this program is to save applicants time and effort and make it more convenient to renew their U.S. passports, there are important limitations that you need to know about.

Lastly, as season approaches, my community outreach team is booking speaking opportunities for schools, HOAs, and other organizations in the coming months. With discussion around national elections in November, I hope to share insights about our local government structure and the roles of various constitutional offices. Our presentations can provide your students or organization members with valuable information on the specific services provided by the Clerk’s Office. For inquiries or to check on availability on your preferred date and time, please email community.outreach@collierclerk.com.  I am looking forward to meeting more members of our community or revisiting prior groups, just let us know!
