Celebrating the Statewide Government Finance Professionals Week

We are joining the statewide celebration of Government Finance Professionals Week which runs March 18-22, 2024.

This weeklong celebration, sponsored by the Florida Government Finance Officers Association (FGFOA), aims to recognize the role and vital services provided by finance professionals for their local government and community. Awards will be given to exemplary finance professionals to recognize their contribution to the county and office they serve.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of many professionals who are generally not in the public eye,” said FGFOA President Frank DiPaolo. “We offer congratulations to all of the government finance professionals throughout the state of Florida as we celebrate their accomplishments.”

In 2023, finance professionals from the Collier County Clerk’s Office received two awards for excellence in financial reporting. In the spring of 2023, the Finance and Accounting Division received recognition with the Certificate of Achievement for Popular Financial Reporting for the FY22 Popular Annual Financial Report. The popular financial report strives to provide constituents and interested parties with a more readable and understandable presentation of the same information presented in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Later in the year, they were also recognized for the 36th consecutive year with the prestigious Government Finance Officers Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022.

On February 20, 2024, the Collier County Clerk and Comptroller’s staff received notice that it’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the year ended September 30, 2022, had received the GFOA award for PAFR reporting. The requirements for the award program are based on an evaluation of the information presented, reader appeal, understandability, distribution as well as creativity and usefulness. The Clerk and Comptroller’s staff expects to submit its PAFR for the year ended September 30, 2023, to the award program in March of 2024.

The awards and recognition that we received are proof of our finance professionals’ dedication to their work and commitment to providing accessible and well-constructed financial reports to our community. Our team will continue to uphold the standards for transparent financial reporting and government services.
