Collier County Clerk Appointed as New Member of Florida Clerks of Court Operations Corporation Executive Council

On April 21, 2023, Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo appointed Collier County Clerk and Comptroller, Crystal K. Kinzel, to serve a two-year term on the Florida Clerks of Court Operations Corporation (CCOC).  As a member of the Executive Council, Clerk Kinzel will review matters of statewide concern to Clerks, including budgets and operations.

“It is my great honor to be appointed by Senator Kathleen Passidomo for this position. I look forward to working with my fellow council members to improve the budget allocation process to ensure all of Florida’s citizens have access to valuable resources provided by Clerks around the state,” said Clerk Crystal K. Kinzel.

The CCOC is an 11-member council composed of eight Clerks of Court elected by their fellow clerks and three Clerks of Court appointed by the Senate, House of Representatives, and Supreme Court. The members of this executive council gather to discuss budgetary concerns affecting the 67 locally elected Clerks of Court. The Executive Council is tasked with evaluating court budgets submitted by each county and ensuring that resources are properly allocated to sustain court functions and services that benefit the citizens. Clerk Crystal K. Kinzel is also a member of the Legislative Committee under CCOC. The purpose of this committee is to review legislative priorities, committee hearings, and bills, as they relate to Clerk and CCOC activities.

Crystal K. Kinzel began her career at the Collier County Clerk’s Office in 2005, after serving for 16 years as Finance Director in the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. She served as the Clerk’s Director of Internal Audit, Finance and Accounting until 2016, at which time she was appointed Chief Deputy Clerk over all operations. In 2018, Governor Rick Scott appointed Crystal as interim Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller following the death of Clerk Dwight Brock. Two months later the citizens of Collier County elected Crystal to the position. She was soundly re-elected in August 2020.

Clerk Kinzel holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from George Washington University. She is a Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Florida Clerk of Court. Clerk Kinzel is committed to safeguarding taxpayer dollars and providing first class customer service to the citizens of Collier County. She inspires public trust and confidence through her unwavering adherence to the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
