The Clerk’s Report – November 2023

We’re only 2 months away from the end of 2023! Looking back, I can confidently say that it has been a very successful year for our office.

In 2023, we reconnected with Collier County groups and organizations through our presentation initiatives and successfully held our annual events including the Valentine’s Wedding Ceremony, Operation Green Light, Passport Saturday, and Centennial Celebration. Several systems were upgraded and further digitalized to improve streamlining essential services to the public. I am proud of our staff for their award-winning financial reports, best practices, and active participation with our partners throughout the community.

With FY 2023 behind us, I’m excited to share that it was a record-setting year for County investments. Aggregate cash interest revenue postings were $48.9 million over the 12-month period ending September 2023. Investment holdings are listed monthly on the Clerk’s website and reported quarterly to the Collier County Board of County Commissioners at a public meeting. The average monthly balance invested for fiscal year 2023 was $2.0 billion dollars.

Affordable housing continues to be a topic of community interest and Board action with an extension of development of the project planned on the Golden Gate Golf Course property.  The addition of $20 million in grant and other funding, as well as a proposed waiver of almost $5 million in impact fees, will be considered at a future meeting.

International Fraud Awareness Week is celebrated worldwide every November, and this year I am honored to be one of the Fraud Week Ambassadors. This annual effort seeks to encourage community education and initiatives to raise awareness of fraud. In partnership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), we have published a video to aid the elderly in combatting fraud as well as a primer on occupational fraud, entitled “How to be a Fraud Fighter.” Don’t forget to register for our free Risk Alert Notification Program to safeguard your valuable properties.

Our Human Resources Department will be participating in the 9th Annual LCF Get Involved Collier! Volunteer Expo to be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. We have several volunteer and career opportunities available that will be showcased in our exhibit for those who are interested in helping improve our community through quality public service. Please make sure to visit our table!

Plans for our 4th Annual Valentine’s Day Wedding and Vow Renewal Ceremony on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 have already begun. Details for this exciting event are still to come, but whether you are marrying or renewing your vows, we hope you will make plans to join us! We are currently seeking community partners and local sponsors who wish to make Valentine’s Day a fun and memorable day for all participating couples. Please reach out to our team at 239-252-7242 for more information.
