Anyone who has ever applied for a passport – either for the first time or for a renewal – knows how tricky the photo can be. The U.S. Department of State has strict requirements for passport photos. They must be of a certain size and layout with a white background and the face easily recognizable and unobscured by glasses, hats, or hair. Photo guidelines are available on their website – and a passport acceptance agent can help, too – but unacceptable photos are one of the most common reasons for a delay in passport processing.
The Clerk’s new passport photo option can help. Applicants may choose to have their photos taken at the time they submit a passport application or may opt to have a photo that was taken elsewhere retaken by one of our clerks so that it meets standards. Our photo service is priced competitively, and we hope this option will reduce the number of trips back and forth to correct photos that are “not quite right.”
This service is currently available only at our main Recording office in the Courthouse at 3315 Tamiami Tr East. Photos will be taken at the time the passport is ready for submission and are available for all ages. The price is $15.90 per applicant. We plan to expand this service to several of our locations throughout the county.
