Clerk Crystal K. Kinzel reminds Collier County businesses to review and update sales tax rates in automated terminals in accordance with guidelines issued by the Florida Department of Revenue.
The Clerk’s Office of Inspector General has received multiple complaints of businesses overcharging sales tax during the past month. It is important to note that administration, collections, and enforcement of discretionary sales surtaxes falls under the Florida Department of Revenue. Collier County business owners and residents with questions about taxes being collected can contact the Florida Department of Revenue at www.floridarevenue.com.
While the Collier County Clerk’s Office of Inspector General does not directly assist in Florida Department of Revenue matters, it is our policy to notify the public of current violations and advise them of next steps for reporting or recovering any funds due.
